Sister Nancy, the dancehall pioneer, has talked about the spotlight shined on her by both JAY-Z and Kanye West sampling her music in recent years.

Her 1982 song "Bam Bam" was picked up by Kanye for his Life Of Pablo single "Famous." JAY-Z followed suit and used the song on his 4:44 track “Bam” featuring Damian Marley. The track has been sampled over 80 times since its initial release.

Speaking to NME about her renewed influence, Nancy said: “When I heard [Kanye] do it I just thought, well, that’s good for me." As for JAY-Z, “It’s a blessing,” she added.

JAY-Z recently traveled to Jamaica to shoot the "Bam" video, which includes a cameo from Nancy. “I spent three days down there with him,” she said of the experience. “It was nice, but a man is just a man. JAY-Z is just a man, same as you. He’s no different.”

Earlier this week it was reported that Kanye West is in Wyoming working on new music. JAY-Z, meanwhile, has announced a worldwide tour alongside Beyoncé.
