As hundreds of people converged in Miami Gardens, Fla. for the sixth annual "Peace Walk & Peace Talk" this morning, also joining in on the rally was Jay-Z. The Roc Nation CEO marched alongside folks, and delivered an inspiring speech in honor of the slain teenager.
Standing on stage at the Betty T. Ferguson Amphitheater with Martin's parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, Jay spoke about the importance of never forgetting Trayvon's life and likened his legacy to that of Mahtma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
“Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to all the people out here so you guys would never have to go through the pain and the hurt these guys went through. His name will sit alongside some of the greats whom lost their life to push our culture forward,” Hov said. “The Martin Luther Kings, the Ghandis, that’s the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope and push us in a better direction.”
Jay also announced a six part docuseries that would tell Martin's story titled Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story last year.
