The program will based on a series of profiles for Epic Magazine of immigrant life in America: a few of those stories include "a woman who kissed a car for 50 hours. A man who escaped communism via zip-line [and] a Hindu Mayor of a small Kansas town." Deadline says the show seeks to "go beyond the headlines to look at the funny, romantic, heartfelt, inspiring, and unexpected lives of immigrants in America, at a time when their stories are more relevant than ever.”

Lee Eisenberg of Showtime's SMILF will serve as showrunner and writer of Little America alongside Gordon and Nanjiani. The program is part of Apple's $1 billion investment in original video content – a series from Steven Spielberg called Amazing Stories and a sci-fi drama from Battlestar Galactica co-creator Ronald D. Moore are also in the works.
