Will Taylor and Charlie Martin are Hovvdy, the rising Austin-based duo making thoughtful and often surprising bedroom pop that calls to mind the likes of (Sandy) Alex G and Emily Yacina. A few months back , Soccer Mommy listed the duo as one of her favorite acts to drive to for "sounding so good with the windows down," and shortly after, we premiered their single "Late." Their highly anticipated sophomore LP, Cranberry, is officially out on Friday Feb. 9 via Double Double Whammy, but can be streamed now on Hype Machine.
The record delivers on all of the promises Hovvdy set forth on their first album, 2017's Taster; expanding on the deceptively intricate and delicately guarded sound that's quickly throttling them far beyond their Bandcamp roots.
