Dabrye and DOOM assert their dominion on “Lil Mufukuz”

Tadd Mullinix put his hip-hop alias Dabrye on ice after 2006's Two/Three to make electronic experiments as James T. Cotton and 2 AM/FM. 11 years later, Dabrye is back with a new album Three/Three, and a new song with DOOM called “Lil Mufukuz,” premiering today on The FADER.

Dabrye creates a comfortable space for DOOM to do his thing – a creepy intro, a swirling vortex of hazy melodies, and drums thick enough to push the paint off your speakers. The classic aura and tinge of dread is DOOM's pedestal as he condescends to his rapping competition with signature flair. Over email, Dabrye shed light on where DOOM started his verse from: "On top of the legend blessing the beat, I was so pleased when he brought his brilliant narrative in direct response to the sample," he said. "As a producer, it can be intimidating working with a beatmaker of DOOM's caliber."
