Each week The FADER staff rounds up the songs we can't stop playing. Here they are, in no particular order.
1. Rich Homie Quan, “Changed”
If you haven't decided on any New Year's resolutions yet, let Rich Homie Quan's sentiments inspire you. On "Changed," he sings about not letting money alter the person he is at his core.
2. American Pleasure Club, “New Year's Eve”
Good holiday-themed songs are hard to find. American Pleasure Club's (f.k.a. Teen Suicide) ecstatically fuzzy "New Year's Eve," released on actual New Year's Eve, might be next year's go-to.
3. BØRNS f. Lana Del Rey, "God Save Our Young Blood"
What a beautiful sunny surprise to make the beginning of 2018 a little less bitter: new Lana Del Rey vocals, courtesy of BØRNS (of "Electric Love" fame). Their duet "God Save Our Young Blood" is mega-romantic.
6. Gucci Mane, "Peepin Out The Blinds"
"I feel like Malcolm X / I'm peepin' out the blinds," Gucci Mane lilts on El Gato: The Human Glacier standout "Peepin Out The Blinds," referring to the iconic 1964 photograph. A stirring image that sounds good as hell.
7. Total Control, "Luxury Vacuum"
Aussie post-punks Total Control get deeply anti-consumerist and satirical on Laughing at the System. Our favorite is "Luxury Vacuum," which is broody and rides on that titular laughter.
