See out 2017 with an all-women mix by Little Boots
Featuring two new songs from the U.K. electronic artist.
Since releasing her debut Hands in 2009, Little Boots has steadily dialed up the electronic elements of her pop-leaning music. She's released two subsequent albums, working with producers including DFA's Tim Goldsworthy, Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair, and pop king Ariel Rechtshaid. She's set to return in 2018 with a brand new EP, her first new music since Working Girl dropped in 2015.
In anticipation of that release, Little Boots has shared a party-ready mix consisting entirely of music made by women artists and producers. The "BURN" mix features work from dreamy Brooklyn producer yaeji, dancefloor staple The Black Madonna, and British pop singer Jessie Ware, as well as some of the producers she worked with on the EP. The mix also houses two new Little Boots songs ("Shadows" and "Picture"), both of which will feature on the upcoming EP. It's something fun to put on as you say goodbye to this year and move triumphantly into the next one.
Speaking to The FADER via email, Little Boots said of the mix: "I've DJ'd more than ever this year, and have been so inspired by all the incredible female DJs and producers making music right now. This mix features some of my favorite, like The Black Madonna, Yaeji, Maya Jane Coles, Peggy Gou, and many more. It also includes a sneak preview of two brand new tracks my forthcoming EP Burn. "Shadows" was produced by Joyce Muniz , "Picture" by Lauren Flax, and both were mixed by Marta Salogni fresh from her work on the latest Björk album. The EP has been produced entirely by women from start to finish, including all music and visual assets, and will be released early next year. I think its an exciting time for women in music and especially dance music, and I'm looking forward to seeing where 2018 takes us!"
