On his remix of Logic's "1-800-273-8255," which drew confusion and excitement when it was previewed on Instagram, Fat Trel uses the suicide prevention anthem's instrumental to speak from a completely different perspective. "We just wanna homicide / Somebody gotta die today," the D.C. rapper croons on the track, which premieres on The FADER today.

But beyond the reworked chorus, Trel uses the beat to pay homage to fallen friends and speak on where he comes from. "If I make a body drop in the morning, take a flight / That's life," he raps matter-of-factly. "My thoughts was just representing the streets — that’s it, that’s all," Fat Trel explained to The FADER over email. "The song is dope, so I decided to remix it, and Logic is my homie. I Think the whole concept of the original song is dope."
