The nominations for the 2018 Golden Globes were announced early on Monday morning ahead of the ceremony on Jauary 7. Many of the best films and TV shows are nominated alongside their stars and creators, including Issa Rae, Big Little Lies, Stranger Things, and Call Me By Your Name.
Jordan Peele's Get Out is up for two major categories, Best Actor in a comedy or musical for Daniel Kaluuya, and Best Film in the same category. However, some fans online are angry that Peele is not up for Best Director, and that the film was also shut out in the Best Original Screenplay group. Given the record breaking status of the film and the fact that all five Director nominees are white men it seems fair to suggest Get Out deserved more.
See below for a round-up of what Twitter is saying about Get Out's mixed results.
Are the @goldenglobes serious not giving @JordanPeele a best director nomination for Get Out?! 🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/PKPPyRGit4

Guys, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN has more Globe nominations than GET OUT.

The Golden Globes just snubbed two scripts, GET OUT and CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, both of which could win at the Oscars. Globes gonna Globe!

No Screenplay nom for #GetOut. I hate the #GoldenGlobes. That's a disgrace.

#GoldenGlobes Film Snubs:

Get Out didn't get nominated for its screenplay.
No women directors got nominated despite an incredible year (Patty Jenkins, Dee Rees, Greta Gerwig).
Only 4 black actors/actresses nominated across the 8 acting categories.
Really no surprise nods.
No Greta Gerwig and Jordan Peele for Best Director at the Golden Globes? No thank you, you learned nothing. Goodbye.

No best director nomination for Jordan Peele at the #GoldenGlobes
— Jack Howard (@JackHoward) December 11, 2017
Still room for Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg.
Nothing against either of them, obviously. It just seems slightly backwards looking.
The #GoldenGlobes could have nominated Greta Gerwig, Dee Rees, Jordan Peele or even Patty Jenkins for Best Director. But no, we got five white men. Very disappointed.

Greta Gerwig, Jordan Peele, Denis Villeneuve, Dee Rees, Sean Baker, Patty Jenkins and Sofia Coppola could of been nominated but they seriously chose Ridley Scott instead pic.twitter.com/6Pbd2iYVn0
