Chlöe Howl’s new single is all about girl power

The 22-year-old London singer returns with the amped-up “Do It Alone.”

Londoner Chlöe Howl has been relatively quiet for the last couple years. In 2014, the teenager was riding high on the BBC Sound of 2014 and BRITs Critics Choice shortlists, having released alt-pop anthems "Rumors" and "No Strings." But the debut album she promised never arrived, and she retreated after releasing the retro banger "Bad Dream" in 2015. Now 22, she's returned with two huge synth-pop songs and a new, carefree attitude. On the latest, "Do It Alone," she shrugs off an attached man who's trying to hook up with her over a supersized, irresistibly danceable chorus.

“'Do It Alone' is about refusing to be the other woman and sticking to girl code," Chlöe explained to The FADER in an email. "I love the girl power vibes of this video. It was so fun to make — me and two of my friends were just running around our favourite London spots, causing trouble in front of the general public.” Watch it above, and if you're in London, see her live on February 7.
