Pedro Pascal is set to star in If Beale Street Could Talk, the Barry Jenkins adaptation of James Baldwin's novel of the same name, Variety reports. Pascal will join Stephan James, Colman Domingo, Brian Tyree Henry, and Regina King in the director's first film since Moonlight.
Pascal is best known for his roles as DEA agent Javier Peña in Narcos and disgruntled prince Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones.
If Beale Street Could Talk is the first movie produced under the two-year contract between Jenkins's production company Pastel and Megan Ellison's Annapurna. Jenkins wrote the script in 2013, the same year he wrote Moonlight, and has been working closely with the Baldwin estate to adapt the novel, which follows a young couple in 1970s Harlem deal with a false rape accusation, to the screen. Jenkins is also set to write and produce a limited series based on Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad for Amazon, though no date has been set for the project.
