LiAngelo Ball explains what happened during the shoplifting incident in China
“People started taking stuff and me just not thinking and being with them, I took something, too,” he said in a new interview with Today.
One of the most bizarre moments of the year came after LiAngelo Ball was arrested in for shoplifting from a Louis Vuitton store in China. The incident sparked a war of words on Twitter between the president of the United States and Big Baller Brand head honcho LaVar Ball. After his arrival back in the U.S., LiAngelo sat down with Today to discuss the incident.
"We all went out one night, went through the mall, went to the Louis Vuitton store, and people started taking stuff and me just not thinking and being with them, I took something, too," LiAngelo explained. "We left thinking we’d just get away. You know how kids think. I didn’t realize until I got back to my hotel, I’m like, 'That was stupid.' But by then, it was too late, and then sure enough, the next morning, the police came and got us."
Later in the interview, LaVar discussed his exchange with Trump and expressed anger at UCLA for suspending LiAngelo. "He already fessed up for what he did. He apologized. What is the long process for? We only went to UCLA—one and done—to play basketball," he said. Earlier this week, LaVar announced that he would be pulling LiAngelo out of UCLA to train him.
