Kyle calls Ebro’s Beats 1 show to raise wildfire awareness
He lost his childhood home in Ventura County.
The wildfires raging through California have forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate their homes, with little signs of slowing down. Kyle, who grew up in Ventura County in California, called into Ebro's Beats 1 show tonight after watching his childhood home burn on the news. In a brief interview, the rapper explains what listeners can do to help, why action is needed, and an easy way to give.
"It's a disaster," Kyle said. "This is probably as bad as a wildfire can get so far. I mean, the city of Ventura has got a population of about 100,000 and so far over 27000 people have evacuated. Now this morning it's literally affecting almost every single person right now. That is I mean hundreds and hundreds of homes are lost. Man my childhood, like the house I grew up in, got burnt to the ground."
Kyle, who called in while driving to Ventura to provide support, also explained the air quality in Southern California was less than ideal to begin with, meaning that "it's very hard for people that obviously have respiratory issues already or are elderly or children. But then just you know people who are healthy and just can't breathe."
