In the midsts of kicking up a ton of Oscar buzz, Monday night, Call Me By Your Name started picking up awards. 21-year-old Timothee Chalamet, a star of the film opposite Armie Hammer, was awarded with the Breakthrough Actor at the Gotham Awards. To win, Chalamet beat out Mary J. Blige for her role in Mudbound as well as Harris Dickinson from Beach Rats and others. The win over Blige came as such a surprise that Chalamet started his thank you speech saying it was an honor to be nominated in the same category as the singer.
But to close out the speech the young actor gave a shout out to "New York artists that have inspired me to purse this crazy career in the arts." Amongst them? Greta Gerwig, Al Pacino, Kid Cudi, and our very own regular, degular, shmegular girl from the Bronx: Cardi B.
