Police are reportedly investigating the role of fentanyl in Lil Peep’s death
The rapper’s family have denied that his death was intentional
Law enforcement sources are investigating if fentanyl contributed to the death of Lil Peep, according to a new report in TMZ. The rapper passed away on November 16 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 21.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid with between 50 and 100 times the power of morphine. With an intense potency in small amounts, it is often laced into other drugs without the user's knowledge. This leads to accidental overdoses, such as Prince's death last year. The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner has already ruled Peep's suspected cause of death as an overdose.
Peep's family have denied that the rapper's death was intentional. “It was an accident, it really was an accident,” Peep's brother Oskar Åhr told People Magazine. “He was super happy with where he was in life.”
