Last week, Haitian-American DJ Sybil Jason shared a throbbing FADER Mix inspired by the "last six months back home in N.Y.C., my friends, the current world, the film Trading Places, and HAITI always."
A mighty gem featured at the end of her mix is an insanely good Haitian Creole version of Migos and Lil Uzi Vert's "Bad and Boujee," called "Balen Bouji." It’s by an artist who goes by the name of ASAP Fresh, whose flip of the hit record is fantastic. Rapping about magic, voodoo, and how his country's greatness is under-appreciated, his flow is spot on, and he puts his own very stoked sauce on the record, somehow matching the combined cool of all four original “Bad and Boujee” creators.
The video for Fresh's version, featuring him turning up to the track and executing flawless Uzi shoulder while surrounded by friends (including fellow Haitian creole rapper Cator G-Shyt), makes the song even better. Watch it above.
