Björk is giving away cryptocurrency with her new album
Bitcoins are free in Utopia.
Björk has teamed up with a London-based company to allow fans to purchase her new album Utopia with Bitcoin, as well as three other cryptocurrencies. The London Times reports that she is working with Blockpool to make the album available to Litecoin, Dashcoin, and AudioCoin users alongside more traditional currencies.
Fans are encouraged to use the four cryptocurrencies to pre-order the album, with rewards available to those who do. Anyone who pre-orders the album through Björk’s website or record label One Little Indian will receive 100 AudioCoins which can then be converted to other cryptocurrencies. AudioCoins are a two year old cryptocurrency aimed at the music industry.
The reward, just over $0.25 in USD at the time of writing, will then be deposited into an e-wallet created for them. Fans who share Björk’s music and merchandise on social media are entitled to further AudioCoins. They then have the option to either sell the coins or trade them back into another cryptocurrency.
Björk's ninth studio album is due on November 24.
