Ibeyi’s new album Ash is here
The French-Cuban duo shares their second album.
French-Cuban duo Ibeyi’s second album Ash is here. The album follows their singles “Away Away,” “Me Voy,” and “Deathless,” all released in the past few months. Their single “Me Voy” is their first fully Spanish language track.
Ash features Mala Rodriguez, Kamasi Washington, Chilly Gonzales, Meshell Ndegeocello, and production from Richard Russell, the founder of their label XL Recordings. The duo is made up of twin sisters Lisa and Naomi Diaz, who currently live in Cuba.
“The month we were making this album was pretty dark for the world,” Lisa said in a previous interview with The FADER, referring to the election of Donald Trump. “And I desperately needed a song that would remind us that we are… deathless. This want we have of humans being together and loving each other, no matter what. This is what we have to carry.”
You can listen or buy the new album now on iTunes.
