On Wednesday, a video surfaced online that appears to show A$AP Bari, a founding member of A$AP Mob and creator of clothing brand VLONE, allegedly forcing a woman to give him oral sex. The disturbing clip was originally posted on the @soledout Instagram account but was quickly deleted and has since circulated on Reddit and Twitter.
The video shows a naked woman under bed sheets, while a man who appears to be Bari, real name Jabari Shelton, can be heard saying, "You fucked my assistant. Now, you're going to suck my dick." The woman responds, "Stop it, Bari, honestly stop," before running out of the room.
As a Reddit user points out, Bari responded to the video on Twitter, writing "Y'all Gotta Do Better" and "Cmon Fake The Fake Edit Videos," before deleting the tweets.
As Billboard points out, a Twitter user with the handle @chasinfoodstmps claimed to be the woman in the video in a series of deleted tweets. "I was forced into bed by Bari and his crew and Bari got upset because I refused to engage in any sexual acts," they wrote. In another tweet, they added, "Bari was apprehended today by UK police forces and is still being held."
Bari's VLONE brand has been teasing upcoming collaborations with Nike and had its first-ever fashion show in Paris on June 23.
Update, July 13, 2017, 10:32 p.m.: A$AP Bari's representative emailed this statement from the rapper on Thursday night:
"A misleading video clip featuring adult content and activity has been released to the public without my knowledge or consent.
Comments about myself or anyone being detained or arrested are false. We have resolved this issue amicably among all parties as adults. We were friends before this and will remain friends afterwards.
Being raised by strong women who taught me to respect everyone, I’m disappointed in the situation as well as myself and will reflect on the situation appropriately."
