A video recording of the fatal car crash that Venus Williams was involved in a month ago was recently released by the Palm Beach Gardens, Florida police. The footage was taken from a security camera located at the exit of Williams' neighborhood on June 9.
According to the Associated Press, "Williams legally entered an intersection seconds before she drove into the path another car." The footage shows the tennis player moving her Toyota Sequoia when the light turns green, but then she proceeds to get cut off by then was cut off by another vehicle. After Williams stops to avoid a collision, she attempts to merge into a westbound lane. This is when Williams' SUV is hit by the Hyundai Accent driven by Lisa Barson, who had a green light. Witnesses claimed that Williams drove through a red light, but this footage suggests otherwise.
Palm Beach Post reports that attorneys for both parties agreed to exchange crash data downloaded from the vehicles of their clients at a court hearing held in West Palm Beach, Florida on July 7. This agreement follows Williams' lawyers filing an emergency protective order against Barson's attorneys. Williams still hasn't been cited or charged and the case continues to be under investigation by police.
