Sonny Digital has said that he wants to form a union for producers to ensure they receive the money they are owed for the work they do. In a video shared on Twitter and Instagram on Monday, the producer asked that rappers respect the people behind the boards and that the industry give them more recognition.
“Legit question: Why don’t producers get nominated for shit and we do all the fucking basework and shit, though? Don’t get no awards,” said Sonny. “Don’t get no recognition. All the artists just sweet up our everything.”
“All I’m saying, y’all need to start respecting the producers a little more, big or small, in between," he later added. "It don’t matter. They all making all the sounds to this shit.”
The suggestion of starting a union to represent producers was mentioned in the text of his tweet and Instagram post of the video. Sonny later carried this thought process on via a series of tweets.
Every person on XXL cover should OF had the producer of whatever song that got them on the XXL COVER with them on the cover.
