The British election is on Thursday June 8, and it's safe to say that it's closer than anyone thought it would be when Prime Minister Theresa May called a snap election on April 18. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has erased a double digit poll deficit, created in part by years of negative media coverage and party establishment power jockeying. For the first time in decades, the U.K. has a chance to be led by a truly left-wing government.
It is true that every poll has currently has Labour at a deficit to May's Conservatives, though it's tightening every day. Turnout is crucial for Labour, but the party has all the momentum. That's why, if you're a U.K. resident and able to take the day off on June 8, you should sign this pledge to help Labour get out the vote. You can sign up for a full day of canvassing in your area, or if you can't spend the entire day, pledge for a shift in the morning, afternoon, or evening.
Local, grassroots organizing brought us this unprecedented election comeback, and it's the best way to finish it strong.
