U.K. Soul Singer Denai Moore’s New Video Is A Beautiful Portrait Of Family And Girlhood

The SBTRKT collaborator is blazing a trail of her own.

British-Jamaican artist Denai Moore first rose to prominence when her voice lit a flame on SBTRKT's 2014 album Wonder Where We Land. The following year, she released her piano-driven, soul-soaked debut album Elsewhere, and this year, she follows it with We Used To Bloom, out June 16 on Because Music. The new album has a distinctly brighter, sparkling feel, with synths trickling around Moore's breezy vocal, and the self-love anthem "Does It Get Easier?" has a new smile-inducing video to match.

"The core of this album is a strong female energy," Denai explained to The FADER in an email. "Girlhood is important to both [video director] Mahaneela and I, and we have such strong mothers in our lives. By shooting portraits of different family relationships in juxtaposition to my own, we portrayed how much of a similar experience we are all having. 'Does Is Get Easier?' is about how beautiful it is that we go through good and bad times in life. There will always be a sense of not knowing whatever point you're at, and that's okay!" Watch it exclusively above.
