Hardly Art — the Seattle label behind such acts as Chastity Belt, Colleen Green, Protomartyr, and Dude York — has been a champion of scruffy guitar rock for the past ten years. This summer, to celebrate the tenth anniversary celebration, they're dropping Hardly Released: Bedroom Recordings, Demos, Rarities, Unreleased, and Widely Ignored Material, a compilation album featuring both well known and rare tracks from artists throughout the label's history. Today, San Francisco's Hunx and His Punx are debuting "Baby Of The Band," a goodnatured B-side featuring lead singer Seth Bogart's "baby" croons and signature guttural rips.
"Sometimes an inside joke goes too far. A prime example is this song from five years ago that no one ever heard!" the band told The FADER via email. "Details are hazy about its existence but I know Shannon Shaw was the youngest member of Hunx & His Punx and this song is about her." Listen below.
Hardly Released: Bedroom Recordings, Demos, Rarities, Unreleased, and Widely Ignored Material is out June 2. A percentage of the proceeds from the compilation will go to the ACLU.
