Ta-Nehisi Coates’s Between The World And Me Is Being Adapted For A Stage Show At The Apollo

Ta-Nehisi Coates's National Book Award-winning work of non-fiction, Between the World and Me, is being adapted into multimedia performance, which will come to the historic Apollo Theater in April 2018, The New York Times reports. The show will feature monologues of Coates's letters to his son from the book and video projections, as well as a score by Jason Moran, who also also scored Ava DuVerynay's Selma and 13th.

The production will be directed by Kamilah Forbes, the Apollo’s executive producer, who attended Howard University with Coates and is mentioned by name in Between the World and Me. Coates will provide "creative guidance" and may appear in the production, Forbes told The New York Times. Though the show has not announced its cast, Forbes said that "everyday folks and celebrity voices" will be involved in the performance.
