Rostam Shares New Video For “Gwan”
The former Vampire Weekend member is heading out on tour in May.
Rostam Batmanglij, who announced his departure from Vampire Weekend in January 2016, has shared a new video for "Gwan." The song is a slow-building, airy tune that finds Rostam asking, "Do you ever get the sense that you're watching someone else?" In the visual, he walks through New York City and across the Brooklyn Bridge as he maintains eye contact with the camera.
“I've had experiences where my life will try to tell me something in a dream—and sometimes it's something I'm not ready to hear," he said about the new track and video in a press release. So I think maybe this song is about trying to listen to what your subconscious mind is trying to say to you.”
In 2016, Rostam collaborated with Hamilton Leithauser on their I Had a Dream That You Were Mine album. He also contributed production to Frank Ocean's Blonde and Solange's A Seat at the Table. He is set to release a new solo album this year.
