The New England Patriots visited the White House on Wednesday, a custom for every football team that wins the Super Bowl. According to a report in The New York Times, over two dozen members of the team did not attend the ceremony, including star quaterback (and President Donald Trump's personal friend) Tom Brady, who cited "family issues" as his reason for missing the event.
A tweet sent out by the Times compared pictures of two visits from the Patriots to the White House, one in 2015 with President Obama, and today's with President Donald Trump. Taken at roughly the same angle facing the staircase on the White House's South Lawn, both pictures show a big dip in the number of members of the Patriots organization who turned up to meet with Trump. In total, just 34 players attended, according to The Boston Globe. The White House would not confirm that number.
At one point the President asked wide receiver Danny Amendola to step forward. Amendola was not in attendance.
