During the doc Solange spoke on the importance of the role Hurston played in her life, and the influence she had on her music. "As a black woman and as a black womanist and feminist, I felt incredibly empowered by Zora’s work," Solange explained. "One of things that I find really interesting and empowered by in Zora's work is this idea of breaking down and disassembling the angry black woman. Which is something that I felt really empowered to do in my own work."
