It girls beware. Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based rapper Mister Wallace is back with a vengeance, releasing a new video for the smoldering queer anthem "Whoremoan" — the second single off his debut EP, FAGGOT.
FUTUREHOOD (Wallace's label with producer aCeb00mbaP) teamed up with Slay TV (a new network from and for LGBTQIA people of color) to create a visual that is part music video, part fashion film. It showcases Fall '16 and Spring '17 collections from SNOWYWILDERNESS: a unisex line that is also one-size-fits-all by designer Johnny Sagan. Each "lewk" is undeniably chic and perfect for strutting down the electrifying streets of Miami, while remaining functional for the grueling nature of technicolor vogue battles.
"When I first heard SXYLK’s production for ’Whoremoan’ I instantly knew it was a hit and that I wanted to create something sexy with it," Mister Wallace told The FADER via email. "Johnny Sagan and I had the idea to make a legendary rap video in homage to the glory days of the '90s but with the edginess of today, and we knew ÅKLØ could capture the spirit. The video is about self love and free self-expression and the song is the key to personal revolution. For me, the revolution starts with the self and it starts in the bedroom."
Director ÅKLØ also shared his take on the creative journey: "This video is beautiful because it was one of the first times I was able to completely remove my own ego from the equation, the creative concepts and ideas mostly came from Johnny and Erik and I simply acted as the glue and conduit for the vision to channel through. It was also our first attempt at seamlessly merging the forms of fashion campaign and music video and who better to storm the stage than the It Girl herself?"
