When the credits for Kendrick Lamar's new album DAMN. hit last night, one mysterious name stood out among the pack of familiar ones like Mike Will Made It, DJ Dahi, and James Blake. Bekon, whose identity has been confirmed by Pitchfork as Daniel Tannenbaum, was listed for production and vocal contributions to no less than eight songs on the project.

Hardly a newcomer, Tannenbaum's been writing and producing songs for close to a decade, primarily under the moniker Danny Keyz, for the likes of Eminem, Emeli Sandé, Snoop Dogg, and many more. Here's what we know:

His earliest credit is as a songwriter on Fabolous' "Imma Do It," featuring R&B singer Kobe, from 2009.
After writing for Cypress Hill and Redman in 2010, he first collaborated with Eminem in 2011, writing on the song "Echo" from his debut album with Royce Da 5'9" as Bad Meets Evil.
2011 was a big year for him, netting credits on tracks for The Game, Raekwon, Curren$y, and Snoop Dogg, for whom he wrote "I Don't Need No Bitch," also featuring Kobe, from his 11th studio album, Doggumentary.

He spent the next few years writing and producing for the likes of Emeli Sandé and Aloe Blacc, before appearing in the credits of Dr. Dre's Compton in 2015, for the Anderson .Paak-helmed "All in a Day's Work."
