Watch Mr Eazi, Kah-Lo, And Davido Party In Lagos For Riton’s “Money” Video
The producer links up with three of afrobeats’s biggest names on his new single.
U.K. producer Riton has been making music for more than 15 years. Making his name through French electronic music label Ed Banger, he has collaborated with Mark Ronson and the late, great DJ Mehdi. Just last year his “Rinse and Repeat” single was nominated for a Grammy. He continues this successful formula of collaboration and experimentation in the video for his new single “Money”. Moving out of his comfort zone and into the world of Afrobeats, he called on the assistance of Mr Eazi, Lagos native Kah-Lo, and former FADER cover star Davido.
The video, premiering on The FADER today, finds the musicians in Lagos (Davido appears remotely via a TV screen) and enjoying the hustle and bustle of the Nigerian city. Traveling round the city by taxi, we see them getting pretty in the salon and hanging with the locals before heading to a party.
“It was my first time in Lagos and I was super psyched to go there as I’ve been a fan of Afrobeat for so long," Riton told The FADER over email. "It’s a wild experience shooting on the streets of Lagos. We really wanted to capture as much of the life out there without it looking like an Instagram mood story. The video reflects the message of the track, that the best things in life are free."
"Money" is out now on Riton Time/Ministry Of Sound. Check out the video above.
