Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood is set to benefit from the sale of a series of 7" singles by artists including Bon Iver, Björk, Common, and Mary J. Blige. As Pitchfork notes, the 7-inches for Planned Parenthood series features contributions from a wide range of musicians, visual artists, comedians, and authors. The campaign arrives at a time when 24 million American citizens could lose healthcare under new Republican budget plans.
The list of artists and creatives contributing towards the project includes: Sleater-Kinney, Foo Fighters, The Handmaid's Tale author Margaret Atwood, the National’s Matt Berninger and Bryce Dessner, Elliott Smith, Common, Feist, Jenny Slate, Janeane Garofalo, Laurie Anderson, Jon Brion, Mitski, Nico Muhly, Margaret Cho, Pete Holmes, Sharon Van Etten, Tig Notaro, and Shepard Fairey.
It was previously announced that St. Vincent, John Legend, and Zach Galifianakis were involved in the project. A video of them covering Minnie Ripperton's "Lovin' You" can be seen below.
“7-inches for Planned Parenthood” will be released digitally “in batches” in the near future. A press release notes that a vinyl box set is also in the pipeline.
