After a concert in Medellín this weekend, Wiz Khalifa visited the grave of the infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar and shared some snaps of the visit on Instagram. On Monday, Medellin Mayor Federico Gutiérrez blasted the rapper's tribute, the BBC has reported.

"It shows that this guy has never had to suffer from the violence inflicted by these drug traffickers," Gutierrez said. It is estimated that Escobar – also known as "The King of Cocaine" – killed as many as 4,000 people during his reign as the leader of Medellín's drug cartel, making him one of richest and most feared people in the world. Escobar was killed in a shoot-out with police on December 2 1993, and his life story is now the subject of Netflix's Narcos.

In one photo, flowers and a joint have been placed on the grave's marker. Gutierrez thought it would have been more appropriate for Wiz to memorialize Escobar's victims instead of "advocating crime."
