Watch A Clip From The Cherry Bomb Doc Premiere With Tyler, The Creator And Frank Ocean
Tyler also takes some questions from fans with Illegal Civ’s Mikey Alfred, the film’s director.
In January, streetwear and media company Illegal Civ debuted Cherry Bomb: The Documentary, a film about the making of the eponymous Tyler, the Creator album. On Monday, they've shared a clip from the film's premiere on January 29 at the Downtown Independent in L.A. It features Tyler signing posters with Frank Ocean, then taking questions after the film is screened.
Tyler doesn't seem to enjoy signing the posters — on one, he writes “Fuck you dawg I just signed this poster so you can feel special but to be honest fuck you” — but he was much more thoughtful with a question he gets at the film screening. "You gotta keep it balanced," Tyler said when asked what he's learned from his successes in his clothing line, Golf Wang, and music. "You gotta keep it fun, or you'll lose your fuckin' mind. That's how people be going crazy."
Mikey Alfred, the film’s director, said that he wants to turn Illegal Civ Cinema into a "film empire." "I wanna make [Illegal Civ Cinema] like HBO. I wanna be at the top. We're working on movies and TV, right? But also if you need a skate video, ICC got you."
If you weren't able to cop the sold-out Cherry Bomb movie bundle, you can still watch some clips online. Watch the recording of "2 Seater" here, and check out the the making of "Smuckers" with Kanye West and Lil Wayne.
