A song's intro rarely gets shine, but it couldn't play a more crucial role. Like good lighting or an open window to let in a breeze, an intro sets both the mood and scene. Equiknoxx Music knows this. On their new song "Fly Away," the Jamaican production crew — this time spearheaded by producer Gavsborg — luxuriate in over 30 seconds of Balearic vibes before the bass drops; it's the sunset moment before the nighttime bashment. Over a taut, adrenaline-heavy rhythm, guest vocalist Alozade gets deep inside the dance. The result is a tightly coiled spring of a song, and that's due in no small part to its gentlest of set-ups.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the song's beginnings are rooted in energetic collaboration: "It was one August morning 2016, I was fueled up from exchanging music and ideas with MC and colleague, RTkal," Gavsborg told The FADER over email. "Ready to create, I called over Alozade and in a couple hours we had 'Fly Away.'"
