Queens Rapper Dai Burger Teams Up With R&B Duo Fortunes On “501’s Remix”
Falling in love with a stranger on public transportation never sounded so damn sexy.
Fortunes is an Melbourne-based R&B duo from New Zealand who last fall released a groovy song called "501's" about falling for a stranger. As if the original version wasn’t already oozing enough sexual tension, Queens rapper Dai Burger has stepped in to add a '90s-inspired kick with a verse that fits like the perfect pair of jeans. “Summertime fine, press rewind like a throwback," she raps. "You’re looking hella fly in them jeans and that throwback/ Looking kinda yummy, almost look as good as me/ Up in these 501s showing off my tummy.”
"I actually heard the instrumental beat before I heard the full track,” Dai told The FADER over email. “Once I heard that voice? I knew it was my duty and obligation to slay that shit.”
Fortunes's Barnaby Matthews explained how the remix came together: “After we got Dai's verse back we all decided it was so dope we wanted to put a new spin on it to compliment her verse, but still keep the core of the original."
Dai added that she “can't wait to bump this in my car like a boss” and we’re right there with her. Listen below.
