Cash Money R&B singer Jacquees and the indomitable DeJ Loaf have paired up for a new project called Fuck A Friend Zone, and its achingly romantic first single "Deeper" premieres today on The FADER. The title announces the kind of emotionally invested sex jam both artists have lined their careers with, though "Deeper" has a new and exciting chemistry. Jacquees and DeJ are searching to take things to the next level, and the beat's gummy synths and gentle guitar licks serve to build the track's sense of effortless yearning.
Over email, Jacquees sang the highest praises of his collaborator. "It was real dope working with DeJ on this project. I ain't never went in the studio with nobody and created a vibe like this... The music we created is that real feel good music . I couldn't wait for the fans to hear and feel like it's another level for me in my career and a sound people not expecting from her. I hope everybody enjoys it as much as we do."
DeJ was also thrilled with the results. "As an artist, it's often rare but always refreshing to go into the studio with another creative and have great energy. I've watched Jacquees grow as an artist and I'm excited to collaborate with him on this project. He has a major career ahead of him and I'm happy to play a part."
Jacquees and DeJ Loaf's 10-track mixtape Fuck A Friend Zone is out February 10.
