Watch Kyle Lowry’s Perfect, NSFW Summary Of Trump’s #MuslimBan
“Bullshit.”
The Toronto Raptors had a disappointing showing last night against the Orlando Magic, but the team's all-star point guard Kyle Lowry brought honor to the team even in defeat. When asked by the media pool about President Trump's immigration ban on seven Muslim-majority countries, Lowry gave a perfect, crude summary: "I think it's bullshit... Our country is the home of the free, so for that to happen, it's bullshit. I'm not going to get into it too deeply, but personally I think it's bullshit." He declined to give a more basic cable-appropriate statement.
Across the NBA, players and coaches have been voicing their opposition to Trump's executive order. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called it "a horrible idea". Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, a Muslim player for the Brooklyn Nets, spoke with The New York Post, urging more people to speak up against Trump's order. On Twitter, former NBA player Nazr Mohammed of the San Antonio spurs lamented the decision: "It's a tough day when u find out that so many ppl that u thought were fans or friends really hate u and everything u believe in."
The NBA has reached out to the State Department for clarification on the order on behalf of players from countries affected by the ban as well as the league's charity Basketball Without Borders. “The NBA is a global league and we are proud to attract the very best players from around the world,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said in a statement obtained by The Washington Post on Saturday night.
