One of my favorite songs of 2016 was "Beep Beep," a sluggish, semi-psychotic, road-trip jam by Massachusetts pals Gods Wisdom and Lucy. The song was from a five-track project called On Thin Ice, which they've described as "Elliott Smith meets dub" but is actually notably stranger than that description implies. The EP, debuting below, is a dissociative union of the pair's individual geniuses: Gods Wisdom's phlegmy, sometimes-wordless growls collide with Lucy's angelic stoner melodies. There's even a screamo-indebted Christmas song on here, which I fully intend on using to freak out my parents during our infamously stressful annual car ride to my aunt and uncle's on Christmas Eve.
Listen to the EP below, which the duo called "the soundtrack to your holiday in Massachusetts and all over the globe," in an email. There's a video for the title track above, too — directed by Dominic Poropat. For more, read about the boys' creative small-town existence here.
