Chairlift will be playing their final shows as a band in 2017, according to a heartfelt note posted on their Twitter this morning. "It's been an incredible ten years as a band," reads the note, "...but the time has come to take the next step towards where our passion is pulling us."
The Brooklyn duo apparently first dropped the news at a hometown show last night, before issuing the statement this morning. The band dropped Moth in early 2016, likely their last album for the foreseeable future.
The note thanks fans wholeheartedly, before explaining that Patrick Wimberly will go on to produce full-time, while Caroline Polachek, whose past collaborations include work with Blood Orange and SBTRKT, will put out music as a solo artist. Read the full statement below.
