The Weeknd sat down with Zane Lowe tonight for an in-studio Beats 1 interview, in advance of the release of Starboy on Friday. The full interview drops tomorrow, but Beats 1 let loose a few clips online tonight.
In the first clip from the interview, The Weeknd tells Zane about working with Kendrick Lamar on "Sidewalks," a track from the new album. "He's a genius," Abel tells Lowe, before recounting details the process behind Lamar's standout guest verse.
He also goes in-depth on a trip to Paris to see Daft Punk, and how "I Feel It Coming" and the album's title track came together in two or three days. Later on, he digs into personal territory too, speaking on success, sobriety, and managing performance anxiety. Watch below.
