Zealous rapper Buddy isn't dimming his light in his inspiring new video for "Shine." In the video directed by Andy Hines, the eager Compton native wakes up in his humble abode, positive, and grateful for another day. Buddy's surroundings may be daunting and the reality of mortality is sobering, but he's not afraid to be great. He relishes each moment as he takes in the night air, talks to God, and nurtures his dreams while he's still here.
"'Shine' is a ghetto hymn acknowledging inevitable death while showing gratitude for abundant life," Buddy told The FADER over email. "It's written from the perspective of an optimistic young black male growing up in Compton as he thrives for enlightenment through all adversity."
