Listen To London Producer Klein’s Surreal, Sample-Packed Micro-Mix
The electronic artist has shared “Ms. tyrese banks AW17” before her U.S. performance debut this Friday.
London-based producer Klein debuted this year with ONLY, a stereoscopic mixtape with eclectic samples that prompted intrigue. This Friday, the enigmatic producer will be making her U.S. debut at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn. To mark the occasion, Klein has shared the shortest mix we've ever heard. Titled “Ms. tyrese banks AW17,” it's a four-minute sound collage that features off-the-wall samples from Phantom of the Opera and excerpts from her recent EP, Lagata.
Klein also packs everything from looped Katy Perry vocals to hip-hop beats to alarm clock-ish synth chords into her micro-mix. It’s a fun, chaotic listen that subverts expectations.
In an email to The FADER, Klein explained her intent behind the mix. “I decided to make this four minute uplifting edit for my friends and cousins to let them know they can do anything."
