Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Shares Psychedelic Visuals For “Riparian”
The composer and synth wizard pairs an album highlight with a gorgeous animated trip.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith uses analog synths to create expansive, shimmery compositions that teem with activity. Earlier this year, before the release of her album EARS, she told The FADER her intention with the project was "to take audiences on a sonic motion ride through a futuristic jungle."
Her new video, for EARS standout "Riparian" does something to that effect, visually as well as sonically. The video, a collaboration with digital artist Andrew Benson (AKA Pixlpa), is a psychedelic journey told through the eyes of a lone, wandering figure, as it moves through a landscape made of vivid color and shapes.
