A new documentary, Finding Joseph I: An Oral History of H.R., tells the story of longtime Bad Brains frontman Paul "H.R." Hudson. The film is set to premiere at London's Doc 'N Roll Film Fest on November 10.
The film, which has been in the works since 2013, tracks H.R.'s life, including the genesis of Bad Brains, and his time as the band's electric, force of nature of a frontman. Naturally, some heavy hitters show up in the trailer to speak to the singer's influence, including Yasiin Bey, Questlove, and members of hardcore contemporaries like Minor Threat and Fugazi.
Finding Joseph I will also be released in tandem with a written biography that shares the same title, written by co-authors Howie Abrams and James Lathos. The book will also feature excerpts and commentary from the artists featured in the film. More info here.
