Just last week we pointed out New Fries as a band to watch, and the Toronto group's made the case once more with the intense single "Mary Poppins' Pockets," premiering today on The FADER. It's the very first sound New Fries has shared from More, its follow-up to 2014's excellent Fresh Face Forward. The most noticeable change? A synth has made its way into the band's No Wave revival sound, and with it, the group's frenzied energy sounds like the source for a mad scientist's latest and most troubling creation. When pressed for an explanation of what the song means, the band tried its best: "This song, it's about how Mary can basically make do in any situation, even if she were a castaway on a desert island, she could... actually, that's definitely not what this song is about."
More is the upcoming mini-LP from New Fries, produced by Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck. It drops November 25.
