The visuals for Maggie Rogers' "Alaska" arrived tonight. The song went semi-viral this summer after a video surfaced of a teary-eyed Pharrell gushing about the song while hearing it for the first time.
Rogers, a student at NYU's Clive Davis institute, was participating in a workshop hosted by Pharrell, but upon hearing "Alaska"—a twinkly, evocative slice of indie pop—Pharrell let her know he had "zero notes" on how to improve it and compared it to hearing Wu-Tang for the first time.
The video comes courtesy of filmmaker Zia Anger, whose body of work includes videos for Jenny Hval, Mitski, and Angel Olsen. The clip features Rogers and friends throwing a little function in the woods. Confetti, makeout sessions, and golf carting ensue.
