Kelela and Elysia Crampton are a powerful force together – Crampton sampled the R&B futurist on "Horizon Of Racialized Sciencism" and "Confessions Of A Postcarceral Feminist." Their first proper collaboration, a pair of tracks called "Final Exam" and "Reference Track TF Scrape," are joined by conceptual artist and philosopher Adrian Piper (who wrote the lyrics, according to Crampton). The same Kelela vocal track appears on both: on "Final Exam" it becomes a glittering free-association drone in perfect harmony with the track's sunrise synths and new age vibe. "TF Scrape" is more of the digital chaos that Crampton is known for. It hosts a similar melody as Three 6 Mafia's "Late Nite Tip" inside what sounds like a B-more club remix of a classic first person shooter.
Stream both below. According to Thump, both tracks will appear on Anthem, an album of collaborations executive produced by Total Freedom, which is being released gradually at the 9th Berlin Biennele's website.
