At a court appearance on Thursday, August 18, a judge ordered that Kodak Black would be held in jail, and did not offer a new release date. There was hope that the rapper would be released on Wednesday until two outstanding warrants were discovered. One of the warrants is for two misdemeanor cannabis charges in Florida, and the other appears to be a sexual conduct charge in Florence, South Carolina.
According to a report from the Sun Sentinel, Judge Michael Davis told the rapper on Thursday, "You're going to be held without bond at this time, and those counties will come and pick you up if that's what they'd like to do."
Records in St. Lucie, where the cannabis charges originated, show that Kodak missed his court appearance on July 25. (At the time he was in jail in Broward County.) He was appointed a new attorney, James Regan, in that case earlier this month. Evidence of the sexual assault warrant was unavailable to The FADER after several calls to the Florence County Clerks office. According to the Sun Sentinel, a judge ordered the warrant be given to Kodak's lawyers on Thursday.
A rep for Kodak Black did not immediately return a request for comment.
