Teddy Fantum Warns You To Stay Away From The Fakes On “Fake Love”
The Toronto artist premieres a cynical new track.
On his latest single, Toronto rapper Teddy Fantum is connecting with people who have felt fake love. And, according to him, “that’s everybody, whether they know it or not.” The single, aptly called "Fake Love," sees Fantum sharing a cynical outlook of apathy and mistrust of others over a very post-apocalyptic-sounding beat produced alongside Parisian Bromance producer Ikaz Boi and Toronto producer/engineer Saint Fall.
Fantum told The FADER via email where the dark experiences that inspire the song came from: "Our world is fake. Fake gratification, self-perception, relationships, love. I'm older now and age low-key blesses you with super powers like apathy and the ability to see through people. I used these powers to make this song."
The single is from a forthcoming EP, Help Me, which Fantum described as "an EP inspired by mental health." He continued: "The title is about vulnerability as strength. This is a message I want listeners to find without me necessarily preaching."
